Welcome: James Emmitt - Material Handling Systems Engineer
James (Jim) Emmitt has recently joined MH Engineered Solutions (MHES) as a Material Handling Systems Engineer, replacing Tim Singer, who recently retired. Jim has a passion for designing, specifying, and implementing strategic and tactical warehouse, distribution, and fulfillment center projects and has over 28 years’ experience in the material handling industry.
Jim’s start in the material handling industry came following six years as a Marine Corps infantry officer, when he joined Raymond Corporation in 1992. His primary focus was on designing and selling warehouse solutions, including employing NA and VNA lift trucks; picking modules; dynamic storage systems; high-speed conveyor and sortation; bulk material handling in the food industry, carousels, shuttles, and AS/RS; and AGV/AMR systems using the latest technology in RTLS and Lidar.
Most recently, Jim worked as a consultant for Amazon Worldwide Engineering, Design & Innovation in Seattle, WA; where he provided recommendations on facility design standards and helped spearhead the use of Lidar and RTLs guided systems for use in class I, II, and III lift trucks.
Jim joins MHES as a graduate of the United States Naval Academy with a B.S. in Engineering and English and has earned his Masters of Business Administration from Franklin University. Additionally, Jim has a Six Sigma Master’s Blackbelt in Operational Excellence from Ohio State University and is a Certified Lean Consultant.
Residing in Dublin, OH, Jim enjoys home projects and volunteering weekly at the Columbus VA Clinic counseling other veterans with combat-related issues. He also functions as a Presiding Judge for voting locations throughout Franklin County.
